It is Maldon, but a different day and with different animals. Yeah.

You see, idiot me heard mother plannng a trip around Blake Woods in Danbury and said, “Hey, I’ll come!” Wrong move. Halfway through, the mud had sucked on my shoe, I lost balance, and did that natural rebalancing thing we humans can do (and it is definitely cool, by the way, it stopped me ending up on my arse) whilst I was still stood in a two inch deep muddy area of the path… short story even shorter, I ended up limping up a short hill with a shoe in my hand and muddy knee-highs. (Luckily they took most of the mud – I just put them both in the rubbish bag. Ugh.)

Anyway, after that, we decided to go to Maldon as the bus went that way. Ended up watching a group of swans waddling distastefully around on the mud flats. *smirk*

To finish off a fifteen day run Tuesday, Feb 26 2008

of photos of a single day at Maldon – on the 6th of February no less! – a picture of a steam boat whilst the tide was still in.

It is a gifts. Yes.

… it’s not like I talk much in these posts.

Boat? Monday, Feb 25 2008

The tide will come in and set it afloat again, of course. But it looks rather pathetic, held up by a pitiful little rope.

And in the bottom right hand corner Sunday, Feb 24 2008

that mud looks really, really unreal.

You may be tiring of mud but, by 5pm by the side of the Blackwater, there isn’t much else left to photograph. :D

Mud, mud, glorious mud, Saturday, Feb 23 2008

nothing quite like it for growing the spud!

You’re probably tired of the swans, Friday, Feb 22 2008

but, you see, the one on the right was being hand fed slices of bread, slices that it then turned around and dumped near the one on the left, and then they both fed together. Awwwwwwww…

Mud. Mud. Thursday, Feb 21 2008

BIRDIES! Water. Mud. Child. Mud. Dog walker. Mud. Mud.

You tend to fall into a pattern like that after a few hours there, yeah.

Meet the mud flats. Wednesday, Feb 20 2008

This is the tidal low. Look. How muddy they are. No one goes walking there, trust me.

There are a LOT of wader birds around… but mostly just the gulls.

Get set… Tuesday, Feb 19 2008

Three… two… one… GO!

My money’s on the white and brown guy. He looks like a real fighter.

And did I mention Monday, Feb 18 2008

that there’s a concrete path jutting out into the estuary?

It gets awfully open and vulnerable on really wet, windy days.
